Pratt is looking for a data analyst to join their predictive analytics team. This role will be analyzing data around shop visits for jet engines.

The role will help to build out analysis and data/statistics models supporting their sales teams who are selling Pratt Engines. Much of the data being analyzed includes information around shop visit dates, what was fixed, environment data around how the engines were flown, and other generic information around the shop visit etc.

The goal of this role will be to help predict upcoming shop visits and their costs. This will in turn help the sales teams to educate their customers.

Much of this data will be pulled out of a large Teradata database. They will assist in building out the models.

This is a great opportunity for someone to work in a group where they can immediately impact the bottom line. They are also working on some really cutting-edge jet engines highly regarded within the airline industry.

A Masters in Stats isn’t required. Experience with R is a necessity and a math or stats bachelor degree as well. Bayesian experience is strongly preferred.

The Research Actuarial Assistant works with the Society of Actuaries’ research actuaries to produce actuarial analysis and to conduct and improve data analysis capabilities needed in the production of research and experience studies reports.

-Assist staff with creating spreadsheet and database analysis of experience data and actuarial calculations used in research reports and experience studies.
-Perform calculations and basic analysis, provide output, document work and describe findings.
-Build efficient spreadsheet methods and database queries for future analysis.
-Assist staff with creating, maintaining and querying research databases.
-Perform database calculations and provide output and basic analysis.
-Validate and cleanse data in databases of interest, and identify the types and frequency of data issues and errors in the databases.
-Utilizing statistical techniques, implement methods of imputing appropriate values to fill those gaps.
-Complete other business analytic requests, as needed.
-Document work and describe findings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):
-Minimum of two years of progress towards a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or similar fields, with an emphasis on actuarial / contingencies / interest theory calculations, spreadsheet tools and database tools.
-Employees of the SOA should not be engaged in taking SOA exams for the purpose of obtaining the CERA credential, the EA designation, or the ASA or FSA designations while employed and for 6 months after employment with the SOA.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES including competencies that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
-Strong preference for successful completion of SOA P and FM exams.
-Ability to communicate and work effectively with people with diverse backgrounds, experience and levels of authority.
-Advanced knowledge of database tools and objected-oriented programs such as SAS, R or SQL.
-Advanced working knowledge of Excel or similar analysis tools. Experience with VBA a plus.
-Ability to understand financial and actuarial calculations and understand them in a business context.
-Ability to work effectively with large bodies of data.
-Solid quantitative instincts.
-Innate curiosity and creativity.

The Primary Responsibilities of an Actuarial Analyst at GRS are as follows:
Prepare client information and data for analysis
Prepare and complete actuarial valuations with direction from consultants
Calculate benefits for retiring and terminating members

Prepare and handle routine correspondence and phone contact with clients

The Challenge

Reporting to our Global Operations leadership, the Operations Analyst acts as a business advisor to senior managers and is responsible for providing a wide range of strategic, analytical, and operational support. As such, you are  an individual with superb communication and analytical skills who can successfully pivot between multiple projects and operational functions.

As part of the Global Operations team, you help drive operational insights that will enable the organization to increase efficiency and make better decisions, faster. A Day in the Life

  • Infuse more science into understanding our operations and become the expert for all data questions regarding customer support and other operations related needs
  • Manipulate and model data using statistical techniques such as multivariate regression and time series forecast
  • Find correlations that underpin business drivers with cross-tabs and pivot tables
  • Assemble evidence to support a point of view and draw definitive conclusions
  • Make practical recommendations that increase customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Present findings across the company in written and verbal formats to be reviewed by executives
  • Produce and automate reports to track key performance indicators

The Expectation for Success
