Student Teaching and Research Opportunities 

The Department of Statistics recommends that students interested in becoming a Research Assistant (RA) for a faculty member within the Department:

  1. Send the Dept. of Statistics Front Desk a brief email asking to be added to the Newsletter. This weekly email goes out every Monday and contains information about employment-related application deadlines and other opportunities. statsec@stat.byu.edu
  2. Apply to become a Teaching Assistant (TA) to develop experience and depth in understanding and explaining concepts. Applications for TA positions open up around the time of the registration deadline for the next semester here: Teacher Assistant Application.
  3. Take STAT 330.

Once an RA, some faculty members take students to academic conferences to present and gain feedback on their research.
