Internships

An internship is a perfect way to put into practice what you've learned in the classroom while trying out different areas of the statistics job world. There is nothing more important than experience and doing what you love, and an internship will give you both: experience in the professional world and an opportunity to discover more about what you can do as a statistician. For exactly these reasons, the Department of Statistics encourages all students to enhance their academic experience at BYU by completing an internship.

Where do I start?

Make sure you have a polished and up-to-date resume. For help with your resume or the interview process, contact:

  • Lane Muranaka / N-221 ESC / (801)-422-9360 / careers.byu.edu

You can also sign up to receive weekly emails from the department with information about internship opportunities and other department news. Email career.placement@stat.byu.edu and request to be added to the email list.

Can I get academic credit for my internship?

Academic credit earned from an internship can be applied as a Stat Major, Stat Minor, or University elective credit. Visit Academic Internship Requirements (for 199R and 496R) for full details or email Kimri Mansfield (kmansfield@stat.byu.edu) with any questions.
